Cautiously Optimistic

We will be face painting at a fundraiser event for a special girl name Gracie! The event will be held at the Kettering Church on E. Dorothy Lane in Kettering. Hope you can come out get some beautiful face paint and shop all the other craft booths to support this little girl!

Autoimmune Encephalitis (AE) is a rare condition where a person’s body attacks their brain. It causes seizures, hallucinations, memory loss and physical difficulties. It leaves a person riddled with pain and sometimes unable to communicate. It affects approximately 1 in 100,000 people. One of those people is our Gracie girl. AE has taken the words right out of her mouth, the hair from her head and her mobility but it has not taken her smile or her spirit. Gracie remains kind hearted; and it is her love for life that has carried her through.

Gracie’s doctors are #CautiouslyOptimistic that she’s beaten the infectious process and that they now have her seizures are under control. She participates in daily speech, physical and occupational therapy but needs more intensive and specialized care to relearn all the skills she’s lost. Her therapists describe getting insurance to cover the kind of care she needs as “harder than catching a unicorn;” but if it’s a unicorn Gracie needs, then a unicorn she’ll have!

There’s an integrative practice in Columbus that can help Gracie while her parents fight for the care she needs. But they do not accept insurance. Putting her parents in a tight spot! Help us raise funds to help her parents get the care their Gracie Girl needs!
